Pedro
Martinez is an exciting and young percussionist
in the Afro/Cuban tradition who plays
conga, timbale, and a killer shekere.
He had the distinction of winning the
Thelonious Monk Hand Drumming Competition,
held in Washington, DC on September 8,
2000.
For
Pedro, the award means the opportunity
of attending the Manhattan School of Music
where he plans to study piano, composition
and arranging.
