I first saw Sikiru Adepolju, a native of Nigeria,
play at a performance for the World Music
Society at Symphony Space in New York City.
The venue was small and intimate and joining
Sikiru on stage were Giovanni
Hidalgo, Nana Vasconcelos, Zakir
Hussain and other Indian musical elite.
Each musician contributed to the overall
music and the place was rocking by the end
of the meeting. It
was incredible how much music could come
from a small drum such as Sikiru played.
Sikiru
agreed to come into LP to lend his knowledge
of the talking drums to making LP's product
an even better one. We learned a great deal
from the meeting and our talking drums will
reflect the information we gained from this
great master. In the pursuit of authenticity
in sound, LP products are constantly in
a state of development. |
