Karl
Perazzo grew up in San Francisco, CA. By the time
he was 12 , he had played with such notable musicians
as Cal Tjader, Malo, Ray Obiedo, Prince, and Andy
Narell. In 1991, his life-long dream of playing
with Santana
was realized when he joined the band to play timbales.
Karl
has also recorded and performed with Mariah Carey,
Dizzy Gillespie, Phish, The United Nations Orchestra
and John Lee Hooker. In addition to that, he also
teaches percussion.
Along
with fellow Santana percussionist, Raul
Rekow, Karl starred in LP's popular instructional
video From
Afro-Cuban to Rock. This video breaks down
the complex musical rhythms of Cuban percussion.
