On
September 9, 2000, a tribute to Tito Puente featuring
the Tito Puente Orchestra with the great Eddie
Palmieri took place at Madison Square Garden.
Eddie performed two solos on timbales with dancer
Nadeen Gautier dancing to his driving rhythms.
Eddie performed his solos with his now traditional
leather gloves and his custom painted LP
Tito Puente Timbales and Timbalitos.
The
show began at 8 pm with Son By Four and ended
at close to midnight with a grand finale featuring
all of the singing greats that appeared that evening:
Celia Cruz, Oscar Deleon, Tito Nieves, Domingo
Quiñones, Frankie Morales, Herman Olivera,
Pete
'El Conde' Rodriguez, Gerry Medina, Tony Vega
and Michael Stuart.
