I have been privileged to be in the presence of rhythm greatness for going on 40 years. None have reached the level of perfection of Giovanni Hidalgo. Gio has inspired me, my company and a line of congas that bear his name.

Just as LP was inspired by this master, Gio was inspired by his many years of work with the great jazz trumpet player and trend setting musician Dizzy Gillespie.

At Giovanni's request, LP's Marcia Stevenson combined two photos taken 23 years apart, to make an image that could have been taken at one time, if we could rewrite history.
